Car Care Tips

Here’s some handy tips. Regarding your car.

WINTER WIPER FLUID

Have you checked your wiper fluid levels lately? You tend to use more in the winter, so be sure to keep your reservoir full.

CREDIT CARD ICE SCRAPER

Have an icy windshield but no ice scraper? Check your wallet for an old gift card or hotel room key. They make for an excellent scraping alternative.

BAKING SODA HEADLIGHTS

Cloudy headlights? Try mixing baking soda and warm water, then use a sponge to polish them up.

WIPER BLADES

They say to replace your wiper blades annually. Our advice? Be realistic. If they start to smear or squeak, then it's time.

TIRE TREAD TEST

To quickly check your tire treads, place a quarter head down in a tread. If you can see the top of George's head, time to replace that tire.

SPRING FLUID LEVEL CHECK

The birds are out. So are the bugs. Now is a good time to check your wiper fluid levels.

DUST YOUR VENTS

Use a foam paint brush to dust inside your AC vents.

DUCT TAPE DOG HAIR

Wad up some duct tape to get dog hair outta your car.

OIL COLOR CHECK

Check your oil color. Amber is okay. Dark brown? Time for a change.

BUNGEE UP

Keep bungee cords in your car. They'll come in handy when you least expect it.

TIRE PRESSURE CHECK

Keep your tire pressure at optimal level in the cold. Under-inflation will break down tires faster and increase fuel usage.

KEEP GAS TANK HALF-FULL

It helps prevent frozen fuel lines in the winter. And if you get stuck in the snow, running outta gas is the last thing you want.

FIX CRACKS ASAP

Small windshield cracks can quickly spread—compromising your visibility and safety on the road.

PACK AN EMERGENCY CAR KIT

Include a flashlight, first aid supplies, blankets and non-perishable snacks.

BACKUP SUNNIES

Keep a pair of cheap, backup sunglasses in your car. You never know when you'll need em.

CHECK YOUR SPARE TIRE

Check the condition of your spare tire. Make sure it’s inflated. Better safe than sorry.
