How to Keep Bugs At Bay This Summer

PLANT CITRONELLA, LEMONGRASS OR LAVENDER

Many plants and essential oils have bug-repelling properties. Try planting citronella, lemongrass or lavender around your home. You can also dilute peppermint or clove oil with water and spray it around entryways.

CLOSE THE DANG DOOR

Make sure all your windows and doors have properly fitted screens, and keep them in good repair. Patch any holes to ensure a bug-free barrier. AND CLOSE THE DANG DOOR, YOU’RE LETTING FLIES IN!

TRY DIATOMACEOUS EARTH

This all-natural powder is deadly to many crawling insects. Sprinkle it around areas where you see bugs entering, like under doors or around pet food bowls. Find it at your local garden/hardware store.

WEAR LONG SLEEVES

Pretty obvious. Cover up exposed skin with long sleeves and pants when venturing into buggy areas. Wear a hat too. Opt for light-colored clothing, as some bugs are attracted to dark colors.
